The town of Brevard
(population 6,789) is a popular summer resort, nestled at the
edges of Pisgah
National Forest. The town's delightful variety of shops and
restaurants keep you taking those extra curious steps to find
what's coming next. The
Brevard Music Festival conducts nightly concerts from the
last week in June through the middle of August. Asheville, The
Biltmore Estate, the scenic Blue
Ridge Parkway, Highlands, Cashiers, and Hendersonville are
a few of the attractions that are a short drive away.
The area is known as the "Land
of Waterfalls" with over 250 named waterfalls. White Water
Falls is the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi, and has
a spectacular plunge of 411 feet. Nearby Connestee Falls, a double
fall, is a powerful sight, and Turtleback Falls is a great place
for a swim.
The area is perfect for hiking, fishing, rafting, golf, and just relaxing. The cross-country skiing is excellent in the winter, the flowers are breathtaking in the spring and summer, and the leaves are spectacular in the fall!
